Characteristics of Shaawei


 & .The lowland area endemic rituals and their theatrical features.


 It is believed in society that invisible forces inflict disease and evil on human beings. Sacrifices and sacrifices are performed to cure these diseases.  Popular in the country as Thovil. There are 4 main types of peace rituals performed for the demons in the low country.

              

  •  Pig Yakuma or Silver Sacrifice.
  •  Sanni Yakuma or Country Yakuma.
  •  Magic Sacrifice.
  •  Mahazon season.

        Legend.

           At that time, the country devils escaped from the rock called Maha Meruwa and at the same time Queen Riddi was born. Queen Riddi married Maha Baba and had 7 children. They were all women. They all worked for prostitutes.  In the hope of having children, they dug a cotton field from Lake Manel, sowed and reaped a blanket, offered it to the Buddha, and obtained commentaries.


 The purpose for which this was done.

           Indigenous to the lowlands, the ritual is performed exclusively on women.

  •  Having children for Uva women.
  •  To protect the womb.
  •  For the safety of the children received.

 The low country Devol drum is the main instrument for this ritual.



 ðŸ“œSanni yakuma.

       Legend.

    King Sangapala leaves for war, instructing the minister to protect his queen.  When she arrived, the queen did not want to give him a part of it.  As the baby in Harvey's womb grew, the prince, knowing that his mother had killed him unnecessarily, made 18 balls out of the bark of the trees and imagined 18 devils.

      It is said that he came with these comrades and destroyed Vishala Kandy and finally the Buddha came to Vishala Kandy, chanted the Rathana Sutta and chased away the demons.


 Sacrifice of magic.

    Indigenous to the lowlands, this ritual is performed to protect oneself from diseases.

    Legend.

       The king went to war and the queen of Manikpala,  sister of the god Vishnu, who was in the palace, promised to marry Vasavarthi Mara.  The maid says that it is not the king who has come near, then the lily smells, and that he is the poisonous mare because of the smell of the pagiri.  After that, she began to become emaciated and weak.

The emergence of anti-government drama and politics
